Candlelight Walk
Every year during the Christmas season the town of Tellico Plains has a what is a called “Candlelight Walk” The town is basically opened up for all who come. The shops are all opened and usually are serving refreshments. There are horse drawn carriage rides and music. The First Baptist Church sets up a live nativity in downtown and the birth of Christ is shared. Also our ladies group, “The Sound of Grace” walks around singing Christmas Carols and minister through song to all who come.
Halloween Outreach
This Ministry was begun several years ago by out Evangelism Director, Bruce Newman. On October 31st the ministry team gathers and erects a canopy in the church parking lot. Under the tent several things go on through the course of the night. As children and their parents enter the canopy at one end they come to the first station where a Gospel Message is shared with them by Children’s Director, Marilyn Parker. Then they proceed to games and fun events and eventually at they exit they are given candy and a Gospel tract. While this is going on some of our adults are in the parking lot witnessing and ministering to many that come by.
Ruth's Cupboard
This is a ministry of First Baptist Church specifically organized and maintained by the Ruth Sunday School Class. They gather information about those in the community who are in need of food and other items. They periodically throughout the year distribute these items to those individuals. This has been a bridge building ministry into the community.
Food Boxes
Between Thanksgiving and Christmas the ladies of the Ruth Class fill boxes with food and other essential items and deliver them to families needing help during the holidays.
